LG dryers
Sixty-eight dryers in the catalog, in three quite different kinds: vented electric, vented gas, and the ventless heat pump machines that condense the water into a drawer instead of pushing it outside. That last group changes what a repair is — there is no duct to blame, and the two things that fail are the condenser block and the drain the water leaves by. LG publishes codes for all of it, including the thermistor set tE1 to tE6 and the drn/OE pair that only exists on a machine with a water container.

Symptoms we are called out to on LG dryers
Each one covers the likely causes in the order they are worth checking, and what to do in five minutes before booking anything.
-
The clothes are still damp at the end of the cycle Dryer not drying
This is an air problem far more often than a heat problem, and the two feel identical from the laundry room. A dryer works by carrying moisture out; if the air cannot leave, the machine heats a drum full of humid air and the clothes stay wet no matter how long it runs.
- Air first: the screen, the duct, and the vent outside
- LG measures its own duct restriction and reports it as d80, d90 or d95
- A ventless heat pump machine has no duct — for those it is the condenser and the water
-
It tumbles, and everything comes out cold Dryer not heating
A dryer that turns but never warms is one of the clearest symptoms in this trade, because the motor and the heat run on different things. On an electric machine the drum turns on 120 volts and the element needs the full 240, so half a tripped double breaker gives you exactly this — a machine that looks completely alive and heats nothing.
- Half a double breaker is the first thing to rule out and it costs nothing
- nP is LG's code for no current reaching the heater
- A thermal cutoff that has opened means the duct was blocked, and both need fixing

-
from $95 Diagnostic visit
One visit, one technician, one answer in writing. On this make the diagnostic starts with something most makes cannot offer: the appliance usually has something to say. LG publishes code lists for its refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, dryers and ranges, and on the machines with no display it publishes what the blinking lights mean instead. Reading that properly is half the job and it costs nothing to do.
- The model number and whatever the appliance is reporting, read before anything is opened
- Blinking-light patterns included, because LG documents them and that makes them codes
- Written findings and a from-price before any part is ordered
-
from $125 Appliance maintenance
The visit that stops the other visits. Most of what fails on an LG in this city fails because of something that could have been cleaned: a condenser packed with dust, a dishwasher filter nobody has taken out, a dryer duct that has been closing for three years. None of it is glamorous and all of it is cheaper than the repair it prevents.
- Condenser, filters, seals, drains and levels on whatever you have
- Written findings, so you know what is aging before it fails
- Priced on time rather than per appliance
-
from $145 Appliance installation
Delivery is not installation. A machine that has been put in place is level, connected, tested, and standing with the clearances its manufacturer specifies — and on LG's ventless laundry and its built-in cooking there are specifics that get missed often enough to be worth naming.
- Leveled and tested, not just connected and left
- Clearances checked, because a built-in with no vent path fails in August
- Gas connections leak-tested and documented
-
from $195 WashTower and combo repair
Two machines behind one control panel, or one drum doing both jobs. Neither is a standard laundry repair: the WashTower has a shared control and two separate machines behind it, and the WashCombo washes and dries in a single drum with a heat pump. The first job on either is establishing which half is actually reporting.
- One panel, two machines — the code has to be attributed before anything is opened
- A WashCombo has no vent and no element; it condenses
- tE on a combo can be the drying side rather than the wash
-
from $145 Dryer vent cleaning
The single most valuable thing that can be done to a vented dryer in this city, and LG makes the case itself: it measures the restriction in its own duct and reports it as d80, d90 or d95. A restricted dryer is not just slow. It is running hotter than it was designed to with lint packed into the run.
- LG measures its own duct and puts a number on the display
- The wall hood outside is the blockage more often than the duct inside
- It is a safety job as much as a performance one
-
from $195 Dryer heating element replacement
A dryer that tumbles cold. The element is a coil in a metal can at the back of the cabinet, and it is replaced together with the thermal cutoff and the thermostats — because a cutoff that has opened did so for a reason, and the reason is nearly always restricted air.
- nP is LG's code for no current reaching the heater
- The double breaker is checked first, and it is free
- The cutoff and the duct are part of the same repair
-
from $185 Gas dryer igniter replacement
On a gas dryer the igniter is the part that fails, far more often than the valve. It weakens over years until it no longer draws enough current to open the gas valve — and it will still glow while doing that, which is why 'it glows so it must be fine' is the most common wrong conclusion in this repair.
- An igniter that glows can still be too weak to open the valve
- It is measured, not judged by eye
- The gas connection is leak-tested afterwards and the result written down
-
from $225 Heat pump dryer service
A ventless machine has no duct and no element. It has a refrigerant loop, a condenser block, a lint system with two filters instead of one, and a condensate circuit that has to get rid of a liter or two of water per load. All of that is maintenance that a vented dryer never needed, and neglecting it is what stops these machines.
- drn and OE are the condensate codes and only exist on these machines
- The condenser block slides out and is designed to be cleaned
- Dearer parts and a longer diagnosis than a vented machine
-
from $115 Dryer moisture sensor service
Two metal strips inside the drum front decide when the load is dry, and fabric softener films them over until the machine reads every load as finished. The result is a cycle that jumps from an hour to a minute, or one that stops with the laundry still damp. Often cleaning rather than a part, and priced accordingly.
- HS is the code when it fails outright; drifting is far more common
- A timed cycle that dries and an auto cycle that does not is this, every time
- Usually cleaning rather than a part
-
from $285 Appliance control board repair
The board is the last thing suspected rather than the first, because supply problems imitate it perfectly: a long extension lead, a shared circuit with something heavy on it, or a socket with a poor neutral will all produce board errors on a machine that is otherwise healthy. A second board fails exactly the way the first one did.
- The supply is checked first, every time
- EE on a washer and F11 on a range are board-level codes
- A board replaced without finding what killed it is a repeat visit
-
from $115 Smart diagnosis and firmware service
LG builds diagnostics into these machines that most makes do not: a connected app, a stored history, and on many models an audible diagnosis the machine plays down a phone line. When that side stops working the appliance still washes and still cools — but you lose the reporting, and on this make the reporting is worth having.
- Connectivity, firmware and the app-side diagnosis
- The machine works without it; you lose the instrumentation
- Often a network problem rather than an appliance one
-
from $165 Commercial appliance repair
LG's laundry turns up in places that are not houses — a building laundry room, a salon, a short-let block, a small gym. The machines are the same and everything around them is not: the duty cycle is higher, the downtime costs someone money, and access has to be arranged rather than assumed.
- The same machines, a much harder duty cycle
- Downtime is the cost, so the visit is planned around it
- Priced on time and on access

About LG dryers
Three kinds of dryer under one badge
Vented electric and vented gas machines work the way every dryer has: heat the air, tumble the load, push the moisture outside. LG's heat pump machines do not. They run a closed loop, condense the water out of the air and collect it in a container or send it down a drain, which is why they can be installed where there is no duct at all — a great deal of Miami condo laundry. It also means the maintenance is different: there is no vent to clean and there is a condenser that must be.
What LG publishes
The thermistor set tE1 through tE6, nP for no current at the heater, dE and dE4 for the door, LE1 to LE3 with AE and CE1 across the drum motor, HS at the humidity sensor, CL for the child lock, d90 and d95 for duct blockage percentages, and drn or OE for the condensate side of a heat pump machine. There is also a blinking-LED set for dryers with no numeric display, and those combinations are on this site as their own pages.

Questions about LG dryers
It runs for a few minutes and stops.
On a vented dryer that is airflow, and the machine is protecting itself. The order is the lint screen, then the duct behind the machine, then the wall vent outside — and in this city the wall vent is the one that is blocked, because the flap seizes and the lint packs behind it. On a heat pump machine the same symptom is a full water container or a blocked condenser, which LG reports as drn or OE rather than leaving you to guess.
It tumbles but everything comes out cold.
nP is LG's code for no current at the heater, and it is the honest starting point on an electric machine: one leg of the 240-volt supply, a tripped half of a double breaker, the thermal cutoff, or the element itself. On gas it is the igniter far more often than the valve, and an igniter that glows and never lights is a different failure from one that never glows. Either way it is measured, not swapped.
The time on the display jumps from an hour to a minute.
That is the moisture sensor, not the timer. LG dryers estimate the remaining time from how wet the load still is, and two metal strips inside the drum front do the measuring. Fabric softener films them over, the machine then reads the load as dry, and the number collapses. Wipe the strips with a little rubbing alcohol on a pad. It is a two-minute job that fixes a failure that looks electronic.
Is a heat pump dryer worth repairing?
Usually yes, and more often than a vented one, because the parts that fail are serviceable rather than structural. The condenser block slides out and can be cleaned; the drain pump and its hose are a part; the compressor is the expensive answer and it is uncommon. What we will tell you plainly is when the number stops making sense against a new machine — that conversation belongs before the work, not after it.
