LG repair in The Landings

A quiet canal-front neighborhood of houses with docks. Outdoor kitchens are common, and they are what the salt and the heat reach first.

The Landings is a neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale, in Broward. We cover it on the same terms as the rest of the county: an on-site diagnostic first, the price agreed in writing, and the exact figure confirmed once we have seen the unit.

By unit

Start with whichever matches yours. How an appliance is installed shapes the visit as much as the repair does, which is why we ask about it when you book.

  • the ice storage bin lifted out of its compartment — LG's ice maker lives inside the refrigerator, so the bin is the honest subject rather than an undercounter machine
In-door and in-freezer ice makers, Craft Ice, and the automatic ice maker kits

LG ice maker repair in The Landings

LG does not sell an undercounter ice machine in this country. Its ice makers live inside the refrigerator — in the door, in the freezer compartment, or as the second unit that makes the round Craft Ice — and its accessory catalog carries automatic ice maker kits for cabinets that shipped without one. That is where the calls come from, and LG publishes three codes for it: IF for the ice maker fan, IS for its temperature sensor and It for its motor. Ice is the single most common thing we are asked about on this badge, and it is rarely the ice maker.

    • Ice makers in the door, in the freezer, and the second unit that makes Craft Ice
    • IF, IS and It are published — fan, sensor and motor, each named
    • A filter change and a slow fill line explain most of the no-ice calls
    Ice maker repair
  • a wide induction cooktop flush in a dark stone worktop
    Induction · radiant electric · gas · 30 and 36 inch

LG cooktop repair in The Landings

The drop-in half of the cooking line — LCE and its neighbors — in induction, radiant electric and gas, at thirty and thirty-six inches. Induction is where LG has put its effort, and it changes what a failure is: an induction top has no element to fail, it has coils, a board and a temperature sensor per burner, and the codes reflect that. F33 and F34 are front induction burner temperature sensors and exist on nothing else in the range.

    • Induction, radiant electric and gas, at 30 and 36 inches
    • F33 and F34 are induction burner sensors; H5 is a hot-surface indicator, not an error
    • On glass tops, a spill under the panel is a real and common cause
    Cooktop repair
  • a dishwasher door open to horizontal in a DARK kitchen with the racks rolled out
Front control · top control · QuadWash · TrueSteam · Inverter Direct Drive

LG dishwasher repair in The Landings

A hundred and eight in LG's current catalog, and the best-documented dishwasher on this fleet: LG publishes thirteen codes for it and names the part behind each one — inlet, outlet, temperature sensor, heater, wash motor, water level sensor, the bubble error, the vario pump and three separate errors in the heat-dry system. The two calls we take most are the two the codes describe: it will not drain, and it is not getting things clean.

    • Front control and top control, QuadWash arms and TrueSteam
    • Thirteen published codes, each naming its own part
    • Inverter Direct Drive motors, which are quiet and are not silent
    Dishwasher repair
  • a wall-mounted chimney hood above an empty cooktop
Wall-mount chimney hoods, and the over-the-range microwaves that do the same job

LG range hood repair in The Landings

LG's dedicated hoods are the wall-mount chimney units, and alongside them a great many LG kitchens in this city are ventilated by an over-the-range microwave doing the same job. The failures are shared and so is the misunderstanding behind most of the calls: a hood that seems not to work is very often a hood that is recirculating exactly as it was installed to, through a filter that has not been changed since it was.

    • Wall-mount chimney hoods, plus the over-the-range microwaves that ventilate
    • Ducted or recirculating — which one it is decides what a fix means
    • Baffle and charcoal filters are maintenance and are the first thing to check
    Range hood repair
  • a front-load dryer beside a laundry-room window at dusk
Electric · gas · ventless heat pump · WashTower · the SideKick pair

LG dryer repair in The Landings

Sixty-eight dryers in the catalog, in three quite different kinds: vented electric, vented gas, and the ventless heat pump machines that condense the water into a drawer instead of pushing it outside. That last group changes what a repair is — there is no duct to blame, and the two things that fail are the condenser block and the drain the water leaves by. LG publishes codes for all of it, including the thermistor set tE1 to tE6 and the drn/OE pair that only exists on a machine with a water container.

    • Vented electric, vented gas, and ventless heat pump machines
    • tE1–tE6 thermistors, nP at the heater, drn/OE on the condensate drain
    • On vented machines the duct is the first suspect and usually the answer
    Dryer repair
  • a tall single-door upright freezer standing open in a utility room
The freezer side of a French door, a bottom freezer or a side-by-side

LG freezer repair in The Landings

LG does not sell a standalone upright freezer in this country — its freezers are the compartment: the bottom drawer of a French door, the bottom of a bottom-freezer cabinet, the tall left side of a side-by-side, or the top of a top-freezer. That is worth saying plainly, because it decides what a failure means. A freezer that is not holding on an LG is a refrigerator failure with its own published codes — FF for the freezer fan, FS for the freezer sensor, dS for the defrost sensor — and the compartment beside it is usually the evidence.

    • The freezer is a compartment on this make, not a separate machine
    • FF, FS and dS are published codes and each names a different part
    • Frost on the back wall is a symptom of defrost, not of the door

By job

Starting figures for this equipment in South Florida. What moves them is the model, the access and the part — the exact cost is confirmed after the on-site diagnostic.

  • An oven door lifted off the range and stood upright against a blanket on the floor, both hinge arms locked open, the empty hinge slots in the frame behind it.
    from $185

    Oven door repair

An oven is a box with one deliberately weak side. A hinge that has dropped, a spring that has tired or a glass pack that has separated all let heat out of the top corner, and the consequence is a cavity that preheats slowly, cooks unevenly and always seems to need longer than the recipe says — with a sensor that measures perfectly well.

    • Slow preheating and uneven cooking with a good sensor is usually the door
    • The door is heavier than it looks and the alignment is the job
    • F10 and F20 are the lock rather than the hinge
    What this involves
  • The spring clamp sprung off the front of a washing machine's rubber boot gasket and the lip of the gasket folded back from the frame, the drum dark behind it.
    from $165

    Washer leak repair

The boot gasket, the clamp that holds it, a hose, or the pump seal — four sources, most of them reachable from the front, and one of them free to find. A leak that only appears on a spin is a different diagnosis from one that appears on a fill.

    • When it leaks tells you where from
    • The boot gasket is the commonest and it is visible
    • Most of these are reachable without moving the machine
    What this involves
  • A refrigerator door with a large dark glass panel set into its front, held half open while a hand checks the hinge at the top of the door.
    from $185

    InstaView door repair

The panel that lights when you knock on it is glass, a light, a sensor and a harness that runs through a hinge. It is LG's own, no other make on this fleet has it, and it fails in ways a plain door does not: a panel that stays dark, one that lights and will not go out, or a communication code because the wiring through the hinge has fatigued.

    • A door panel with electronics in it, and wiring through a moving hinge
    • CO — the board-to-display communication code — often starts here
    • Glass, sensor, lamp and harness are four different repairs
    What this involves
  • A meter's probes held to a terminal block behind the lower rear panel of a refrigerator that has been pulled out from the wall, the meter lying on the floor beside it.
    from $155

    Refrigerator not cooling repair

The most common repair on this badge and the one where the order of work matters most. Air first, then defrost, then the sealed system — a sequence that goes from free to expensive and that anybody quoting a compressor over the phone has skipped two thirds of.

    • Demo mode and blocked vents are ruled out before anything is opened
    • LG publishes three separate fan codes and the usual cause of all three is ice
    • The sealed system is measured with gauges, never assumed
    What this involves
  • The flat spiral of an induction coil under the lifted glass top of a cooktop, its ferrite bars and the board beside it, the glass propped clear.
    from $265

    Induction cooktop repair

An induction top has no element to fail. It has a coil per zone, a temperature sensor under each, and an inverter board driving them — which is why a single dead zone is the good version of this problem and several at once is not. F33 and F34 are LG's front burner sensor codes and they exist on nothing else in the range.

    • One zone dead is a coil or a sensor; several is the board
    • F33 and F34 are induction-only codes
    • The glass comes up, and the parts underneath are dearer than radiant
    What this involves
  • A large flat magnet rotor lifted off the back of a washing machine's outer tub and held to one side, the ring of stator windings still bolted to the tub behind it.
    from $345

    Direct Drive motor repair

LG bolts the motor straight to the drum, which is why these machines have no belt to fail — and why, when the drive does fail, it is a larger job than a belt would have been. LE and LE1 are the codes. Before the motor is condemned, the obvious causes of a stalled drum are ruled out, because most of them are not the motor.

    • LE and LE1: a drum that has been asked to turn and has not
    • Overloading and a jammed drum imitate this and cost nothing to check
    • The rotor and stator come off the back of the tub

What LG equipment is like in The Landings

A quiet canal-front neighborhood of houses with docks. Outdoor kitchens are common, and they are what the salt and the heat reach first.

The Landings is part of Fort Lauderdale, in Broward County, and we treat it as its own call rather than a line on a map: the buildings, the access and the age of the installations differ enough from the rest of the city to change how a visit is planned. What does not change is the work — LG cooktops, dishwashers, dryers, diagnosed on site before anything is priced.

Salt, heat and storms — what they do to a kitchen full of appliances

Close to the water everything ages from the outside in. Salt corrodes the condenser coils and fan motors on the cold side and reaches burner caps, grates and igniters on the hot side, and both fail in the same way: a part that still works, slowly, until the day it does not. In The Landings that turns a cleaning interval into a seasonal job rather than an annual one, on both halves of the kitchen.

What that means for the appliances in The Landings

  • Range hoods — Salt reaches the far end of a duct before it reaches anything in the kitchen. A wall cap with a corroded damper that no longer opens leaves a smoky room behind a hood that sounds perfectly healthy.
  • Refrigerators — Refrigeration installed outside works against ambient heat all summer and salt air all year, which is why cleaning it is seasonal here rather than annual.
  • Range hoods — An outdoor hood ducts into weather rather than out of a wall, and the cap is the part that goes — usually silently, so the first sign is smoke that stays under the roof.

Which LG series we work on around The Landings

We publish the error codes for every LG series this site covers — WashTower, LG SIGNATURE among them. Which one is in your kitchen changes the visit more than it changes the diagnosis: how the appliance was installed decides what has to come apart before anyone can reach it, and in The Landings that is a question about the room before it is a question about the appliance.

How a visit in The Landings is arranged

We ask for the model number from the plate inside the door and a line about what the appliance is doing. That decides which parts ride in the van, and it is the difference between one appointment and two.

  • In a building: the service elevator window, the loading bay and the hours contractors are allowed to work
  • Behind a gate: how visitors are cleared, arranged before the appointment rather than at it
  • Whether the doors are paneled to match the cabinetry, which changes how they come off and go back
  • The diagnosis first, then the scope and the price in writing, and your approval before anything is opened

What it costs, and what moves the figure

Prices in The Landings are the same as everywhere else we cover: a diagnostic from $95 that is credited toward the repair, and starting figures per job rather than one number for "a repair". What moves it is the model, how the appliance is built into the cabinetry, which part it needs and how quickly that part can be sourced — none of which can be judged over the phone. The repairs we carry out lists what each job involves and the figure it starts at, and the unit pages covers what tends to go wrong on each type.

The exact cost is confirmed after the on-site diagnostic and agreed with you before any work begins. We are an independent repair company — not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any manufacturer — and our warranty covers the labor we performed.

Before you book

Questions about a visit in The Landings

Do you cover The Landings?

Yes. The Landings is part of Fort Lauderdale, in Broward County, and it is inside the area we work every week. Give us the address when you book, and say how the LG is installed — what has to come apart to reach it matters as much as where it is.

How soon can you get to The Landings?

We will tell you the earliest slot we can genuinely keep rather than the earliest one that sounds good. Tell us the model number and what the unit is doing when you book: whether we can finish the same day depends on the part far more than on the drive.

Does it cost more because the job is in The Landings?

No. The diagnostic and the work are priced the same across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. What moves the figure is the model, how the unit is built in and which part it needs — never the address. Where access takes longer, we say so before anything is agreed rather than after.

Does being this close to the water shorten the life of a unit?

It shortens the life of the condenser and the fan motors, which is not the same thing. Salt corrodes them years ahead of the schedule written for a dry climate, and a condenser that cannot shed heat makes the compressor work longer for the same result. Cleaning here is seasonal rather than annual.
