Range error code F1
LG range error code F1: An oven holds temperature by comparing what it wants against what its sensor reports, so a sensor that has drifted or opened leaves it with nothing to aim at. Every spelling LG publishes for it, which machines can raise it, and what to do next.

What we can confirm
Code F1, from the manufacturer's own documentation
A code is only meaningful together with the machine showing it — the same digits mean different things on different equipment.
The code
F1
An oven holds temperature by comparing what it wants against what its sensor reports, so a sensor that has drifted or opened leaves it with nothing to aim at. LG stops the cavity rather than let it run open-loop, which is the right call — an oven with no measurement is an oven with no upper limit. On a double oven or a double wall oven, F1 and F2 are specifically the UPPER cavity, and that is the useful part of the code: the lower one has numbers of its own.

What it narrows down to
The sensor measuring the main oven cavity has gone out of range

What else belongs to the ranges
On this make a code belongs to the appliance rather than to a product line. These are the other conditions this machine can display, and the models that can show this one — a display often has more than one thing to say, and the model number decides what any of it costs to put right.
Other codes this appliance can display
The same sensor problem, in the lower cavity
The cavity is not reaching or holding the temperature it was set to
The motorized lock has not reported that it did what it was told
The control and the display are not talking
The oven has rejected its temperature sensor's reading
The fan that moves air around the cavity is not turning
The temperature probe socket is reporting a problem
The steam system's own sensing has failed
The fan that keeps the surrounding cabinet cool has stopped while the oven was at its hottest
The touch controls are reporting a key that is stuck or wet
An induction zone cannot measure its own temperature
Not an error — the glass is above 150°F and the cooktop is saying so

About Range error code F1
What F1 means on this make
An oven holds temperature by comparing what it wants against what its sensor reports, so a sensor that has drifted or opened leaves it with nothing to aim at. LG stops the cavity rather than let it run open-loop, which is the right call — an oven with no measurement is an oven with no upper limit. The other ways LG prints this one
F1 · F2
LG publishes a condition and then every string that can stand for it, and which one your machine shows depends on the panel it was built with — OE, E03 and E21 are one condition on a washer, and Er dS, F dS and r dS are one sensor on different evaporators. They are one page here, so whichever of them you searched for, this is the right page.
Where this appears, and why not to clear it
On the appliance's own display. LG reports errors two ways: machines with a digital display show a code, and the laundry machines without one blink their indicator lights instead. Both are published by the maker and both are on this site. Photograph what the panel shows before cutting the power. On a refrigerator you can also force the last code back onto the display by holding Freezer Temperature and Express Frz together for three seconds — LG documents that, and it is the one thing that makes a first visit more useful. A code that has been reset is information a technician no longer has.
What to do about it
- Press the CLEAR/OFF key and try the function again.
- If it comes straight back, switch the breaker for the range off for thirty seconds.
- Note whether the other cavity still works — on a double oven it usually does, and that is worth telling the engineer.
- Book it. The sensor is a probe in the cavity wall and it is a contained repair.
Where this goes next
The job this usually becomes is diagnostic visit, and that page carries a starting figure and the reasons that move it. If it turns out to be nothing — and on this make a real share of these are modes, reminders and settings rather than problems — the visit ends there and you pay the diagnostic and nothing else, or call (305) 419-0291 and describe what the panel is doing before booking anything.
