LG dishwasher drain repair

The most common dishwasher call there is, and most of it is labor rather than part. LG codes it OE, and the causes run from a filter that has never been taken out to a disposal knockout plug that was never removed when the machine was installed.

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

  1. 01

Clear the sump and the filter

The cylinder twists out by hand. What is in it is usually the whole answer.

  2. 02

    Follow the hose

Behind the machine and under the sink, looking for the crush that happened when it was pushed back.

  3. 03

    Check the disposal connection

The knockout plug, the air gap and the high loop. All three are installation rather than appliance.

  4. 04

Test the pump by sound and by meter

Humming, silent, or running with no flow — three different findings.

  5. 05

Run a full cycle before closing

A machine that drains once is not a machine that drains.

    LG dishwasher repair in Miami

A hundred and eight in LG's current catalog, and the best-documented dishwasher on this fleet: LG publishes thirteen codes for it and names the part behind each one — inlet, outlet, temperature sensor, heater, wash motor, water level sensor, the bubble error, the vario pump and three separate errors in the heat-dry system. The two calls we take most are the two the codes describe: it will not drain, and it is not getting things clean.

    • Front control and top control, QuadWash arms and TrueSteam
    • Thirteen published codes, each naming its own part
    • Inverter Direct Drive motors, which are quiet and are not silent

About LG dishwasher drain repair

The twenty minutes that end about a third of these

With the machine off, lift the filter assembly out of the floor of the tub, wash it in the sink and put it back. If it has never been out, that alone finishes a fair share of these calls. Then bail the standing water out with a cup so nothing is hidden under it. Then look under the sink: if the drain hose runs to a disposal fitted after the dishwasher, ask whoever installed it whether the knockout plug came out, because a plug left in place gives you a machine that has never drained properly since the day it arrived. If OE comes back after all that, it is ours.

Questions about LG dishwasher drain repair

Is the standing water dirty enough to worry about?

It is dishwater and it will start to smell within a day or two in this heat. Bail it out, prop the door open, and it will keep until we get there.

Will running the disposal clear it?

It is worth trying, because the two share a drain. Run the disposal with the tap going for thirty seconds and start a short cycle. If the machine fills and stops in the same place, the blockage is on the dishwasher's side of the plumbing.
