LG WashTower and combo repair

Two machines behind one control panel, or one drum doing both jobs. Neither is a standard laundry repair: the WashTower has a shared control and two separate machines behind it, and the WashCombo washes and dries in a single drum with a heat pump. The first job on either is establishing which half is actually reporting.

On the visit

How this visit actually goes

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

  1. 01

    Attribute the code

Which machine, which half, which cycle it stopped in.

  2. 02

    Check the shared control

A single panel failure looks like two broken machines.

  3. 03

Treat the drying side as a heat pump

On a combo there is no element and no duct. Condenser, condensate and the loop.

  4. 04

    Check access before quoting

A stacked unit in a closet is a different job from the same machines side by side.

  5. 05

    Run both functions

Wash and dry, end to end, before the visit is closed.

    LG washer repair in Miami

The laundry side of this badge is the busiest on the site, and LG sells more shapes of it than anyone: front load, top load with no agitator, the WashTower with both machines behind one control panel, the all-in-one WashCombo that washes and dries in one drum, and the SideKick pedestal washer that lives under the main machine. Two hundred and twenty-two laundry machines in the catalog between washers and dryers. LG publishes a separate code list for each shape, and the codes do not all mean the same thing across them.

    • Front load, top load, WashTower, WashCombo and the SideKick pedestal
    • Around twenty published codes, and a blinking-light set for machines with no display
    • Direct Drive motors: fewer parts to fail, and a different failure when they do

    LG dryer repair in Miami

Sixty-eight dryers in the catalog, in three quite different kinds: vented electric, vented gas, and the ventless heat pump machines that condense the water into a drawer instead of pushing it outside. That last group changes what a repair is — there is no duct to blame, and the two things that fail are the condenser block and the drain the water leaves by. LG publishes codes for all of it, including the thermistor set tE1 to tE6 and the drn/OE pair that only exists on a machine with a water container.

    • Vented electric, vented gas, and ventless heat pump machines
    • tE1–tE6 thermistors, nP at the heater, drn/OE on the condensate drain
    • On vented machines the duct is the first suspect and usually the answer

About LG WashTower and combo repair

Tell us which half stopped, and read the badge

These two get confused constantly on the phone and the difference decides what we bring. A WashTower is one column with a single control panel in the middle and two separate machines behind it, washer below and dryer above. A WashCombo is one drum that washes and then dries the same load with a heat pump, no vent, and a cycle that legitimately runs for hours rather than an hour. Owners of the second often call because it is slow, and slow is how it works. Read the badge, then tell us whether the washing half, the drying half or the panel itself has stopped.

Questions about LG WashTower and combo repair

The panel is dark but both machines seem fine.

On a WashTower that is the shared control, and it is the failure that looks like two broken appliances at once. It is one repair rather than two.

My combo takes four hours for a load. Is something wrong?

Probably not. A ventless drum has to condense all the water out of the load instead of blowing it outside, and a full mixed load genuinely takes that long. Noticeably longer than it was six months ago is the sentence that matters, and that is the lint path and the condenser rather than an error.
