LG washer drain pump replacement
OE, E03 or E21 on the display and a drum full of water. Most of these are the filter rather than the pump, and the filter is behind a small door the owner is meant to open — so the diagnosis happens before anything is quoted.

How this visit actually goes
The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.
-
01
Empty the machine safely
Through the drain tube beside the filter where there is one, into a tray. Several liters arrive at once otherwise.
-
02
Open and clean the filter
Coins, hair grips, tissue. What comes out is often the whole repair.
-
03
Test the pump
By sound and by meter, before it is condemned.
-
04
Replace and check the impeller housing
A pump that failed with something jammed against it will do so again if the something is left.
-
05
Run a spin-only cycle
Water out, no leaks at the housing, and the filter finger-tight rather than forced.

Front load · top load · WashTower · WashCombo · SideKick pedestal LG washer repair in Miami
The laundry side of this badge is the busiest on the site, and LG sells more shapes of it than anyone: front load, top load with no agitator, the WashTower with both machines behind one control panel, the all-in-one WashCombo that washes and dries in one drum, and the SideKick pedestal washer that lives under the main machine. Two hundred and twenty-two laundry machines in the catalog between washers and dryers. LG publishes a separate code list for each shape, and the codes do not all mean the same thing across them.
- Front load, top load, WashTower, WashCombo and the SideKick pedestal
- Around twenty published codes, and a blinking-light set for machines with no display
- Direct Drive motors: fewer parts to fail, and a different failure when they do
In more detail
About LG washer drain pump replacement
How to empty the drum before we get there
There is a small door at the bottom right of the front panel, and behind it a short hose with a cap and, beside it, the pump filter. Put a shallow baking pan and a towel down, pull the hose out, and let it drain a pan at a time — a full drum holds several gallons and it will not all come at once. Then unscrew the filter and look at what is in it. Coins, hair pins, a child's sock and a startling quantity of felted lint are the usual haul, and clearing them ends this call more often than a new pump does. If the filter is clean and the water still will not go, the pump gets tested.

Questions about LG washer drain pump replacement
How often should that filter be cleaned anyway?
Every couple of months, and almost nobody does it. It is the single most useful five minutes an LG washer owner can spend.
Water came out of the door when I opened it.
That is normal with a drum still full, which is why the little hose exists. If the door is already open it is towels and patience, and please do not run another cycle to see whether it drains this time.
