LG temperature sensor replacement
LG publishes four separate sensor codes on its refrigerators — FS for the freezer, rS for the fresh food side, dS for the defrost coil and rT for the room — and they are not all in the same place. A cabinet that has lost one still cools; it simply cannot aim, which is why this arrives as a machine that swings rather than one that has stopped.

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

01
Read which sensor
FS, rS, dS or rT. On a two-evaporator cabinet the prefix says which coil as well.
-
02
Measure rather than assume
A thermistor is a resistance at a temperature. It is checked against the table, not replaced on suspicion.
-
03
Replace and route the harness properly
A sensor clipped where it touches metal reads the metal, which produces the same complaint again.
-
04
Reset and let it settle
The board relearns the compartment. Judging it in the first hour is judging a machine that is still catching up.
-
05
Verify with a probe
The display is not evidence. A thermometer on the middle shelf is.

French door · side-by-side · top freezer · bottom freezer · InstaView · Craft Ice LG refrigerator repair in Miami
Three hundred and forty-seven of them are in LG's US catalog, which makes this the biggest part of what the badge sells and the biggest part of what we are called out for. LG is also the make that tells you most about itself when something goes wrong: the refrigerator carries a published code for the condenser fan, the freezer fan, the refrigerator fan, three separate sensors and the ice maker, and you can force it to show you the last one by holding two buttons. In a South Florida kitchen most of the calls are not the sealed system. They are ice, water, a fan that iced up behind the back wall, or a door that stopped sealing in air that is wet nine months of the year.
- French door, side-by-side, top freezer and bottom freezer, plus InstaView doors
- Er CF, CO, FF, FS, IF, IS, It, dS, rS and rT are published, with meanings
- Linear and Inverter Linear compressors, and the long compressor warranty behind them

The freezer side of a French door, a bottom freezer or a side-by-side LG freezer repair in Miami
LG does not sell a standalone upright freezer in this country — its freezers are the compartment: the bottom drawer of a French door, the bottom of a bottom-freezer cabinet, the tall left side of a side-by-side, or the top of a top-freezer. That is worth saying plainly, because it decides what a failure means. A freezer that is not holding on an LG is a refrigerator failure with its own published codes — FF for the freezer fan, FS for the freezer sensor, dS for the defrost sensor — and the compartment beside it is usually the evidence.
- The freezer is a compartment on this make, not a separate machine
- FF, FS and dS are published codes and each names a different part
- Frost on the back wall is a symptom of defrost, not of the door

In-door and in-freezer ice makers, Craft Ice, and the automatic ice maker kits LG ice maker repair in Miami
LG does not sell an undercounter ice machine in this country. Its ice makers live inside the refrigerator — in the door, in the freezer compartment, or as the second unit that makes the round Craft Ice — and its accessory catalog carries automatic ice maker kits for cabinets that shipped without one. That is where the calls come from, and LG publishes three codes for it: IF for the ice maker fan, IS for its temperature sensor and It for its motor. Ice is the single most common thing we are asked about on this badge, and it is rarely the ice maker.
- Ice makers in the door, in the freezer, and the second unit that makes Craft Ice
- IF, IS and It are published — fan, sensor and motor, each named
- A filter change and a slow fill line explain most of the no-ice calls

The LG SIGNATURE wine cellar, and the wine storage inside a four-door cabinet LG wine cooler repair in Miami
This is the narrowest page on the site, and it should be: LG's US catalog lists one wine cellar, a SIGNATURE machine, alongside the wine storage built into some of its four-door refrigerators. A wine cabinet is a refrigerator with a much narrower brief — it holds a temperature band rather than a temperature, and it is judged on how still it keeps the bottle as much as how cold. The failures follow from that: compressor cycling, a door seal, a fan, and the sensors that decide when any of it runs.
- One SIGNATURE wine cellar in the catalog, plus in-cabinet wine storage
- Judged on a stable band and on vibration, not on how cold it gets
- The same sensors and fans as the refrigerators, with tighter tolerances

About LG temperature sensor replacement
Measure it with a glass of water before you believe the display
The number on the door is what the cabinet thinks, and this is the repair where the cabinet is wrong. Put a glass of water in the fresh food compartment with a kitchen thermometer in it and leave it eight hours. That reading, not the panel, is the temperature your food has been living at. A gap of several degrees between the two, or a compartment that swings from icy lettuce to warm milk across a couple of days, is the pattern here. LG puts sensors in four different places and reports them separately, so the one that has drifted gets named rather than guessed at.

Questions about LG temperature sensor replacement
Everything freezes on the top shelf and the door bins are warm. One problem or two?
Usually one. A cabinet that cannot trust its own reading overshoots to be safe, so the coldest spot freezes while the door sits in the swing of it.
Is a sensor worth replacing on a ten-year-old refrigerator?
Almost always. It is a small part behind a panel, and it is the least of the ways a cabinet of that age can go wrong.
