### Try the sensitivity setting before you book

The panel is meant to answer two firm knocks in the same spot in the middle of the glass, and it becomes fussy long before it becomes broken. There is a knock sensitivity setting in the control menu and it is worth turning up before anything else: a panel that answers on the second try in the evening and never in the morning is usually asking for exactly that. If it lights and will not go dark, if the lamp behind the glass has gone patchy, or if a communication code appears whenever the door is swung, the wiring through the hinge is being asked about and that is the visit.

Establish what it does

Never lights, always lights, or works intermittently. The third points at the harness.

Check the knock sensor

It has a sensitivity and it can be set too low as easily as it can fail.

Inspect the hinge harness

A wire that flexes thousands of times a year fatigues, and it is the usual reason for a communication code on a cabinet with this door.

Test the lamp and its driver

The panel is lit from the edge and a single failed section reads as a dead panel.

Reassemble squarely

A door with glass in it is heavy and its alignment is part of the seal.

### Can the glass be replaced on its own?

It comes as a pack with the frame and the lighting behind it rather than as a pane, which is what makes this the dearest door repair on the site. We will price the pack and also the option of living with it, because plenty of people sensibly do.

### Does it need to be knocked in a particular way?

Two knuckles, twice, in the middle of the panel. Fingertips and a flat hand both work poorly, and a magnet or a heavy cover sitting over that area stops it altogether.

### If the panel is dead, is the food at risk?

No. The door still seals and the cabinet still cools. Everything on this repair is about the window, not about the refrigeration behind it.
