# LG dryer heating element replacement

### Two breakers, one dryer, and half of these calls

An electric dryer runs on two legs of 240 volts and uses only one of them for the drum motor. Lose the other and you get a machine that starts, tumbles and runs a whole cycle stone cold, which is why the first thing to do is switch the dryer's breaker fully off and fully on again, both halves together, and try one more load. A double breaker that has tripped on one side imitates a burnt element exactly and costs nothing to rule out. If it still tumbles cold after that, the element and the safety parts around it are replaced together, because the cutoff opened for a reason.

Measure the element and the cutoff

Both fail open and both produce the same symptom.

Replace the set

Verify the exhaust temperature

Measured at the machine, with the duct connected.

That is airflow rather than heat, so it is the duct and the lint path rather than this repair. A dryer with no way out for the moisture will heat all afternoon and dry nothing.
