# LG appliance installation

### The measurements to take before delivery day

The morning the machine arrives is a poor time to find out it does not fit. Measure the narrowest doorway on the route rather than the opening it ends in. Check what is on the wall behind it: a gas dryer needs a shutoff you can reach, an electric one needs its own outlet on a dedicated circuit, and a heat pump machine needs air around it because it takes its heat from the room. On a WashTower, measure the height to the underside of the cabinets before you buy — it is one column and it does not come apart afterward. Then find the water shutoff and make sure it actually turns.

What this involves

Leveled and tested, not just connected and left

Clearances checked, because a built-in with no vent path fails in August

Gas connections leak-tested and documented

Check what is actually there first

Supply, drain, circuit and clearance, before the old machine comes out. The commonest installation problem in this city is a new appliance in an opening that was built for a different one.

Level it properly

Front to back and side to side, with all feet down. A washer that is not level will not spin at full speed and a wine cabinet that is not level will hum.

Connect and test under load

Water on, run a cycle, look for weeps at every joint after ten minutes rather than after ten seconds.

Gas, if it is gas

Leak-tested at every joint, and the result written down.

Show you what you have

Which filter it takes, where the drain filter is, and what the machine needs from you every few months.

### Is what the store calls installation the same thing?

Usually it means the machine is set in place and the hoses are attached. Leveling it, running a full cycle, checking the vent and confirming the clearances is a different piece of work, and it is the part that decides whether you see us again in eight months.

### Can you install an appliance I bought somewhere else?

Yes. Where it came from makes no difference to us. The model and what is behind the wall are the only things that change the job.
